Raisa Rasheeka completed her BSS in Media and Communication and Masters in Development Studies from Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). She then went on to do her second Masters in China Studies from the Ocean University of China, People’s Republic of China. Having published seven papers independently and co-authored two thus far, Rasheeka’s research interest lies in Asian culture and society, communication for development, migration and diaspora, international communication and public policy, and media effects and narrative persuasion.

 

Rasheeka is currently serving as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Media and Communication and has been awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award 2020 from IUB. Rasheeka has been involved in myriad administrative tasks of the department and school since joining IUB in 2010. Currently she is the member of the Self-Assessment Committee of the department and the coordinator of the department’s comprehensive Thesis and Senior Project Supervision Committee. She is also the Faculty Advisor of Independent Photography Club (IPC). Prior to joining IUB, Raisa has worked in various capacities in BRAC and PPRC and has been part of a number of consultancy team of UNDP and UNICEF while at IUB.



Rasheeka received the Chinese Research Council-funded Chinese Government Scholarship and the Ocean University of China scholarship for postgraduate studies and the President’s Gold Medal, Dean’s Honors Book Award 2006 and Vice-Chancellor’s Honors Book Award 2007, 2008 and 2009 respectively from Independent University, Bangladesh.

 

Most recently, she has been awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award 2020 from IUB.
